Management Team

Michelle A.Youngers, President & CEO, brings over 25 years diverse experience in the development and implementation of operational and financing strategies for early stage, high growth companies across multiple industries. From 1994 to 1998 she served as CFO and general business manager at Alanex Corporation, a San Diego-based drug discovery company where she played a significant role in building the company from start-up through its acquisition by Agouron Pharmaceuticals in 1997. Ms. Youngers served as Acting Chief Financial Officer of ScienceMedia from 1999 to 2001 and joined the company as President in 2001. From 1989 to 1994 Ms. Youngers was Principal of Youngers & Company, an accounting and consulting practice focused on services to privately held companies in high growth rate industries.

Ms. Youngers currently serves on the Dean's Advisory Committee for UCSD's Division of Physical Sciences. She received her BBA in Accounting from the University of San Diego.

 

Margaret Harmon, PhD, Program Director, brings her collective experience in science research, teaching and instructional design as well as industry practice to ScienceMedia program development. In addition to her experience as the Quality Control Lab supervisor for Perdue Foods and as a Scientist with Sandoz Agro, she has conducted post-doctoral research in the department of Pharmacology at UT Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, the Green Center for Reproductive Biology Sciences, and at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Margaret has extensive teaching experience in General Biology, Molecular and Cell Biology, Marine Biology and various graduate level courses in Physiology and Endocrinology. Her success as a teacher was recognized by the UCLA Board of Regents in the form of a Distinguished Teaching Award.

Dr. Harmon received her BA in Agricultural Sciences from Ohio State University with special emphasis on Physiology, and a PhD in Biology with an emphasis on Molecular Endocrinology from the University of California at Los Angeles.

 

Rob Ransom, PhD, eLearning Development Director, has more than 20 years experience in developing and managing the development of eLearning products in K12, adult learning and pharmaceutical industry sectors. Rob taught biology and genetics at the UK’s Open University for 11 years before founding the educational publishing company REMedia in 1993. He was one of the first educators to use computer-based full motion video, and was a member of Apple Computer’s University Consortium Council for many years. Before joining ScienceMedia Rob was a Senior Instructional Designer for Cardinal Health, one of the largest health services companies in the world.

Rob received his BS in Biological Sciences from the University of Aston, UK, and a PhD in Computer Applications to Developmental Processes from the Institute of Animal Genetics, University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

 

Robin Allgren, MD, PhD, Medical Director, brings a unique blend of experience in clinical development, regulatory affairs and product development for innovative products in the biotech, pharma, medical device, diagnostics and stem cell industries to ScienceMedia. Along with her position at ScienceMedia, Robin consults for a number of companies in the area of designing clinical studies as well as clinical and preclinical development plans. Robin previously held the positions of Senior VP of Development at Ansata Therapeutics and VP of Clinical Research and Medical Affairs at Intercool Therapies and VP of Clinical Research at Scios, Inc. Dr. Allgren earned her PhD and MD from Stanford University Medical School, where she completed her training in Internal Medicine. She received a BS degree in Chemistry from Rice University, and holds an MBA in Health Services Management from Golden Gate University.
